Two Andrews wirleine workers remained hospitalized Wednesday after an explosion at Gray Wirleine Services.Ernest Lopez was listed in critical condition and Ismael Alvarez, was listed in stable condition at University Medical Center in Lubbock.
Andrews County Sheriff Sam Jones said another worker was treated and released at Permian Regional Medical Center after being taken to the hospital. The explosion at Gray Wireline Services happened around 1:30 p.m. when Mr. Lopez was preparing some old explosives for disposal and during that process there was an explosion. According to witnesses Lopez received the brunt of the blast, but co-worker Alvarez was also hurt. Gray Wireline Services is licensed for using explosives. The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and OSHA are investigating the incident.
