Arkansas Aluminum Alloys Plant Explosion An early moring explosion rocked an Arkansas Aluminum Recycling Plant (Arkansas Aluminum Alloys) early Tuesday morning outside Hot Springs, Arkansas. The explosion occurred shortly after 3 a.m. in a production area where scrap aluminum is melted down for recycling There was no fire and no chemical release, but Arkansas Aluminum Alloys shut off power to the plant as a safety precaution. According to witnesses, the employees were working with containers of aluminum on conveyor belts when the accident occurred. No comment from Arkansas Aluminum Alloys as to what may have caused the explosion and injuries and deaths. The two men killed were identified as John Albert Cobb, 43, and Ethon Allen V. Boyer, 19. The name of the injured worker is not known.
