Bayer Explosion in Baytown, Texas Injures 18 Workers
Texas Chemical Plant Explosion
September 26, 2006, Baytown, Texas. At the Bayer Chemical plant in Baytown, Texas at least 10 people were hurt in an explosion. According to emergency response teams the Bayer Corporation in Baytown secured the area after a loud explosion was reported at the plant around 11:20 a.m. Local Baytown Fire Department and other emergency personnel responded taking 18 to area hospitals. According to Bayer, all victims of this explosion are being treated for minor injuries. A later report indicates one worker taken for extensive 2nd degree burns. No chemical or toxic release has been reported.
