Gas well explosion victim’s family asks to see documents By MAX B. BAKER STAR-TELEGRAM STAFF WRITER FORT WORTH — The family of a Wise County man killed in a natural gas well explosion in Forest Hill last month has taken the initial steps toward suing XTO Energy, saying they want to see documents resulting from the company’s internal investigation. Robert Gayan, 49, of Paradise, died in the April 22 incident while working on a well in the 3500 block of Lon Stephenson Road. About 500 homes were evacuated amid fears that floating clouds of gas would ignite. Since the explosion, state and XTO investigators have focused on a valve on the well casing head. Gayan was preparing to remove it when it burst off and struck him, killing him instantly. In a statement released by the company a few days later, XTO said Gayan removed a safety plug within the valve in error.(Wed, May. 03, 2006) SEE MORE INFO ON THIS TRAGIC GAS WELL EXPLOSION: BREAKING NEWS: Bayer Explosion
